The Voluntary Code of Practice for the Reduction of Emissions of HFC and PFC Fire Protection Agents (VCOP) reduces nonfire emissions of HFCs and PFCs, which are used as fire-suppression alternatives to ozone-depleting halons, while continuing to protect people and property from the threat of fire through the use of proven, effective products and systems. The voluntary code is intended to establish best practices in the handling, testing, decommissioning and disposal of equipment, in the training of technicians, in communications and outreach, and in the recordkeeping and reporting of fire protection equipment involving HFCs and PFCs.
