The International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC), formerly the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP), provides a forum for exchange of information and lessons learned between government, inter-governmental and non-governmental stakeholders focused on nuclear energy, and the commercial nuclear energy sector in the variety of activities necessary to support the safe and responsible use of nuclear energy. Partners are focused on collaboration to make nuclear energy more widely accessible in accordance with safety, security, and non-proliferation objectives; as an effective measure to counter global warming; and in order to improve global energy security.  The cooperation will be carried out under existing arrangments and, where appropriate, new bilateral arrangements as well as existing multilateral arrangements such as the Generation IV international Forum.
