Climate Change Description:

The Atlantic Interoperability Initiative to Reduce Emissions (AIRE) partnership between the US and European Commission aims to develop operational procedures that reduce aviations environmental footprint on a gate-to-gate basis. Through a systematic approach with projects involving surface, arrival, and oceanic demonstrations, the partnership will accelerate environmentally friendly procedures and standards, quantify environmental benefits to aid the formulation of potential business cases, and capitalize on existing technology and best practices. Working with European partners, AIRE identifies implementation issues, obstacles, choke points, metrics, and solutions. AIRE is part of NextGen and SESAR efforts.
