Description:The "Twenty In Ten" goal sought to cut US gasoline consumption by 20% over the following ten years. Through increasing the supply of alternative fuels and making motor vehicles more energy efficient, the plan intended to address energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles and off-road engines and equipment. On the demand side, the plan proposed reforming fuel economy standards to make cars more energy efficient. On the supply side, it proposed increasing the supply of alternative fuels by setting a mandatory fuels standard to require 35 billion gallons of renewable and other alternative fuels in 2017 - nearly five times the previous target.
