Description:

In December 2000, the U.S. Department of Energy granted USD 15 million over five years for research, development and testing of advanced natural gas engines. The public-private partnership aimed to improve engine efficiency, and successfully engine research and engine/vehicle integration projects resulting in reduced NOx and particulate matter emissions. The Natioanl Renewable Energy Laboratory recently ended its successful Next Generation Natural Gas Vehicle (NGNGV) R&D activity.
