Evaluation:Thousands of businesses have accessed the programme; the latest evaluation (2010-2011) found that: • The programme had delivered lifetime benefits to 2010-2011 customers of over 40 000 tCO2 and GBP 9.5 million in cost savings. • Over one third of recommended actions had been implemented by businesses, and 87% of customers that had taken, or were planning, action said that the programme had been crucial or some help in this. • The programme was felt by recipients to be particularly helpful in providing new ideas for measures that could be implemented. • Levels of satisfaction with the programme were high (with 89% of customers satisfied or very satisfied).
Description:

Businesses that meet the criteria of an SME are eligible for support through the Energy Saving Scotland Small Business Loans scheme. A small business may be offered a loan if it cannot access, or can only partially access, Green Deal finance for measures identified in a Green Deal advice report; or for measures identified by a Resource Efficiency Scotland audit/report. This scheme offers interest-free loans of GBP 1 000 to GBP 100 000 for energy efficiency measures and resource efficiency measures, and loans at a 5% interest rate for renewable measures (where the applicant is planning to claim the FIT or RHI).
