Description:Clear Skies, funded by DTI and managed by BRE, provided grants and access to sources of advice promoting renewable energy to households and communities. Householders could obtain grants between GBP 500 to GBP 5000 to invest in renewable energy products. Not-for-profit community organisations could receive up to GBP 100,000 for grants and up to GBP 10,000 for feasibility studies. Clear Skies supported projects in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish householders and not-for-profit community organisations could apply for grants from the Scottish Community and Household Renewables Initiative. Clear Skies vets installers to ensure good quality of service. Applicants needed to use registered installers and products that are listed by Clear Skies. Clear Skies expired in March 2006, though the DTI introduced a replacement program of renewable energy grants.
