Under the Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC), electricity and gas suppliers were required to achieve targets for the promotion of improvements in household energy efficiency in Great Britain. It also contributes to the alleviation of fuel poverty by focusing 50% of energy savings on lower income consumers. The first phase of the EEC ran from April 2002 to March 2005.
