|Climate Change Description:|
The Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment (ACBE), set up by the British government to provide a dialogue between government and business, issued a report in May 2000: "Assessment of Joint Implementation and Clean Development Mechanism: Potential Opportunities for UK Business". The ACBE report makes several recommendations to the government on its preferred format for the two project-based Kyoto mechanisms, Joint Implementation (JI) and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and on how to promote involvement of UK businesses. One of the key recommendations is that government sets up a "Kyoto Mechanisms Office" to advise businesses on opportunities arising from JI and CDM.
