Promotion System (instruments):
Small photovoltaics plants are being promoted from 2014 with investment aids.
The tariffs for power from renewable sources are based on reference power plants for each technology and output category. The tariff is applicable for 20 years (10 years for biomass infrastructure power plants). In view of technological progress and the increasing degree of market maturity of new technologies, the tariff rates are subject to a regular review. Reductions only apply to new production facilities that are put into operation.
Promotion System (funding):
The amendment to the Energy Act entered into force on 1 January 2014. The amendment was initiated by a Parliamentary Initiative (Number 12.400).
The latest amendment was on 1 January 2017; the high voltage grid surcharge was raised to CHF 0.015 per kWh transmitted. Feed-in tariffs for PV are lowered as are one-off investment contributions to PV and small hydro installations.
