The Integrated Resource Plan- Electricity 2010 (IRP 2010) supersedes the Energy Security Master Plan for Electricity which was approved by Cabinet in 2001. The IRP2010 determines the demand profile for electricity over the next 20 years and details how this demand can be most effectively met from different sources, such as nuclear energy, coal, gas and renewable energy.
The Plan also establishes a target of 1 million solar wat heaters to be installed by 2030 in South Africa.
