The Labelling programme in South Africa began in 2005 with the labelling of fridges. Since then lighting, ovens, dishwashers, clothes dryers, clothes washers, combination clothes washer/dryer and room air conditioners have mandatory comparative labels. The Minumum Energy Performance standards are also mandatory for the following: water heaters (2014); fridge; oven; dishwashers; clothes dryers; clothes washers; combination clothes washer/dryer; TVs; and Set Top Boxes.
