Main objective of the policy is to modernize Romanian heating system. Policy outlines that this goal will be achieved by implementation of energy efficiency measures such as technology improvement, minimization of energy loses and promotion of energy efficiency behaviour among users. Local renewable sources will be exploited in order to cover part of water heating demand. These measures will allow for sector’s modernization, cost reduction and will aid to protect natural environment by reducing greenhouse emissions.
Programme promoting local public heating system modernization will be run in parallel to the policy in order to further support its fulfilment. Public entities eligible to benefit from the programme will be financially supported by the state.
