"Energy Policy of Poland until 2025" was adopted by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Poland on 4 January 2005. Policy puts focus on promotion of development of renewable energies in Poland.
In the document target of 7.5% (reached by 2010) is set for electricity derived from renewable energy sources in total gross consumption of electricity of Poland. This is in line with the indicative quantitative objective stipulated for Poland in Directive 2001/77/EC of 27 September 2001 on the promotion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources.
Polands energy policy provides that this target should be carried out in such a way as to ensure that the utilization of individual kinds of renewable energy sources favours competition through promoting the most economically-effective sources and does not to lead to an excessive increase in energy costs for consumers. In order to ensure proper position of renewables in Polish power industry, the following actions should be pursued:
On 10 November 2009 the Council of Ministers adopted "Polish Energy Policy until 2030" that replaces the "Energy Policy of Poland until 2025."
