As an initiative to increase Norways efforts in hydrogen research, the Norwegian Government appointed a National Hydrogen Commission in June 2003. The Commissions mandate is to propose a broad research, development and demonstration programme covering production, storage, distribution and use of hydrogen. The Commission will address issues on the use of hydrogen, both in the transport sector and in stationary applications. The Commission will also propose national targets and necessary measures for developing hydrogen as an energy carrier and as an instrument for national added value, as well as for a cleaner environment.
