The Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have launched the Netherlands European Carbon Facility. The Facility will focus on purchasing emission reductions generated by Joint Implementation (JI) projects in Central and Eastern Europe. The Facility aims to purchase 10 million tonnes of eligible emission reduction units (ERUs) from eligible projects, which include those based on renewable energy, energy efficiency, methane capture, fuel switching, reduction of industrial emissions, or afforestation.
