A new Energy Performance Standard (EPN) is outlined in the Building Act of 1999. The requirements for residential properties have been set so that 1,200 m3 of natural gas will be the maximum allowed each year for heating, hot water, and cooking. The EPN requirement will be strengthened from 1 January 2000. This New Energy Performance Standards for new buildings and non-residential buildings follows the EPN which came into effect on 15 December 1995.
