Description:

The Energy Sector Program was created following the principles established in the NDP, which is of federal jurisdiction. According to the Energy Sector Program, natural gas will become a primary source of energy. Power generation has its best alternative in natural gas due to its high efficiency in combined cycle power utilities, with a cleaner combustion compared to coal or petroleum.4 In addition, SEP considers LNG as an opportunity to diversify energy sources in the coming years and also establishes that as part of the objectives included by the Program, LNG re-gasification terminals will be promoted in order to support diversification of natural gas imports.

Amended:

The 2013-2018 program starts with the usual diagnosis of the state of the Mexican energy system and subscribes to expanding electricity infrastructure and expanding renewable energies. Previous programs include the 2002-2006 program.
