Climate Change Description:The government has launched a $40 million programme to help the development of energy-conservation technologies, such as co-generation. The program is set to run for the next three years and includes a plan to require the corporate sector to use more efficient energy sources in their production facilities by 2008. The government plans to give tax incentives to companies to encourage alternative-energy use. Interest payments for companies operating in the alternative-energy sector will be lowered from 5.25% to 3%.
