Renewable Energy Description:

The main goal of our Ten-Year Energy Technology Development Plan is to reduce greenhouse gas emission while stimulating the growth of eco-friendly environment. To accomplish this goal, Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP) have proposed Green Energy Strategy Roadmap in 2011 to set specific guidelines for major 15 technical fields. The Roadmap supports energy industry and facilitates establishment of new businesses. The selected fifteen technical groups are: PV, green car, nuclear power, wind power, bio fuel, IGCC, clean fuel, CCS, clean-thermal power, smart-grid, energy storage, energy saving building, high-efficient new-light source, heat pump, and fuel cell.

The goal of the Ten-Year Plan is to achieve following objectives by 2020:

  • Curtailment of the  greenhouse gas emission rate by 15%;
  • Overall increase of energy efficiency by 12%;
  • Procurement of the world energy market share by 10%

The Roadmap assists Korea in reaching above goals.
