Funding:April 2014-March 2015: 1.39 billion yen (jointly with the "project for developing small and medium-sized water power plants")
Description:

This project promotes the development of geothermal power generation, which requires large capital investments and a long lead time from the start of development to the operational stage. Prior to 1999, METI was responsible for subsidising activities for developing geothermal power generation by electric power operators, developers, industry bureaus, or entities who install in-house power generating plants. Operational activities were transferred to NEDO in 1999.

Amended:

NEDO conducted a subsidy program for further deployment of small and medium-sized hydro power generation and of geothermal power generation from April 1999 to March 2011. Its budget was 1.97 billion yen in the last year. From April 2011, New Energy Promotion Council (NEPC) succeeded this program. NEPC conducts this program by subsidies from METI. This program is still in force in 2015. And NEDO is conducting a R&D project of geothermal power generation (From April 2013 to March 2018).
