Energy Efficiency Description:

The House of Tomorrow Programme 2001-2006 launched in September 2001, offers support for research, development and demonstration projects aimed at generating and applying technologies, systems, practices and information leading to more sustainable energy performance in Irish housing. The main focus of the programme which has a proposed budget of € 21.1 million in implementation over six years (within the National Development Plan) is on stimulating widespread uptake of superior energy planning, design, specification and construction practices in both new home building and home improvement markets.

A structured consultative process with key actors on a proposed "House of Tomorrow RD&D" programme has led to the identification of themes and priorities.
