Description:

The Government Regulation No. 59/2007 on Geothermal Business Activities, regulates geothermal activities, including surveys, exploration, feasibility studies, exploitation, and utilisation. It also sets out procedures and requirements for obtaining permits; bids for work areas and bid requirements and procedures; geothermal data; supervision on geothermal mining business operations; administrative sanctions; etc. 

To support the Regulation, the Indonesian government has set up a number of policies to support  investments in geothermal energy projects.

 

Amended:

The 2007 Regulation was amended in 2010 by the Government Regulation of RI No. 70/2010. It specifically amends article 86, by extending the time limit for holders of authority, permit and/or contract to conduct exploitation activities in any work area.
