Description:A bill presented to the Greek Parliament in March 2005 contained provisions to enable grid investments and readily approve wind farm construction and connection to the grid. The bill lists feed-in tariffs for wind farms of Eur0.068/kWh plus Eur1.756/kW installed, which on average amount to just under Eur0.073/kWh. Autonomous island grid-connected wind farms would receive Eur0.0846/kWh. The east coast and Aegean islands have potential for wind development, but the most-promising areas – Thrace, the eastern Peloponnese and Evvoia - now lack adequate grid capacity for new connections. Should the bill pass Parliamentary approval and enter into law, Greek wind capacity could reach 3,372 MW by 2010.
