Description:The European Commission approved French federal aid to limit transports greenhouse gas emissions. Annual grants of €22 million will encourage the development of cleaner, more efficient passenger and freight vehicles and fund research on the more efficient organization of transport. Specifically, the aid will fund studies evaluating transports direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions, development of combined road/sea transport, and consumer incentives to choose electric vehicles, filters that reduce old vehicles pollution, and vehicles running on lower-emission fuels. The grants will favor vehicles running on natural gas.
