As outlined in 2004s Plan Climat, labelling regulations now require new passenger vehicles to display on their windshields their average carbon dioxide emissions in grams per kilometer. Labels list grades from A (less than 100 gms/km) to G (more than 250 gms/km) and specify average emissions in several driving conditions, from aggressive to leisured, and intercity to freeway.
