The European Parliament and Councils Decision No 1753/2000/EC of 22 June 2000 establishes a scheme to monitor the average specific emissions of carbon dioxide from new passenger cars. It is one element of the Community policy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The Decision establishes a scheme to monitor the average specific emissions of CO2 produced on the territory of the Member States by new cars. The scheme applies to cars being registered in the European Union for the first time.
