Description:

The policy’s objective is to achieve international emission reduction commitments in the transportation sector and non-ETS covered sectors. In these sectors, emissions are to be reduced by 20% by 2020 (of 1990 levels).

The new agreement focuses on a green transportation system with better mobility and reductions in CO2 emissions and elements such as:

  • strengthening of the railway system;
  • encouraging the use of public transportation (bus, rail) and cycling in cities;
  • energy labelling of vans, green taxis;
  • recommendations for green procurement;
  • increased taxations on transportation; and
  • creation of new sustainable technologies.

Toward 2020, the agreement impl\ies investments of DKK 150 billion (about EUR 20 billion) – mostly in public transportation.
