Climate Change Description:The Danish Ministry of the Environment has launched the Denmark Carbon Facility to facilitate Joint Implementation (JI) and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects under the Kyoto Protocol. EcoSecurities and SBL, collaborators, will manage the Facility, purchasing carbon credits from JI and CDM projects in Central and Eastern Europe on behalf of the Danish Environment Ministry. The eligible projects include energy efficiency, fuel switching, methane capture, or reduction of industrial emissions in Central and Eastern Europe. The Danish Environment Ministry will initially provide 59 million Danish Kroner (US $9.4 million) for purchasing Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) and Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from JI and CDM projects respectively. The Facility aims to attract participation and subsequent funding from Danish industry through marketing initiatives.
