Description:

The Danish Government adopted its law on CO2 quotas on 9 June 2004, superseding the Act on CO2 Quotas for Electricity Production, which set a ceiling for total CO2 emissions from the electricity sector until 2003.This new law implements the EU emissions trading scheme which starts 1 January 2005. The implementation of the directive in Denmark in the form of the quota law is the cornerstone in the governments climate strategy as of February 2003.
