Renewable Energy Description:

The purpose of this law is to implement European Union Directives 96/92/EC and 2003/54/EC. It includes the following rules on the promotion of electricity from renewable sources:

1. Renewable energy plant operators are contractually entitled against the grid operator to the priority connection of plants to the grid without discrimination.
2. Plant operators are contractually entitled to priority access and transmission of electricity from renewable sources.
3. After the conclusion of a connection agreement, a plant operator is contractually entitled against the grid operator to the expansion of the grid if the expansion is necessary to connect a plant to the grid.

A. “Cyprus” relates to the southern part of the Island. There is no single authority representing both Turkish and Greek Cypriot people on the Island. Turkey recognises the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Until a lasting and equitable solution is found within the context of United Nations, Turkey shall preserve its position concerning the “Cyprus” issue.

B. The Republic of Cyprus is recognised by all members of the United Nations with the exception of Turkey. The information in this document relates to the area under the effective control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.
