Renewable Energy Description:

In 2008 the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock jointly presented the National Biofuels Programme, in which the general objective aims the developing a biofuels industry to contribute to energy security and efficiency, mitigation climate change, the reactivation of the agricultural sector and national socio-economic development.

In addition, the text included specific objectives the following:

  • Replacing fuels progressively fossil fuels, by other renewable energy sources of national origin.
  • To foster social development in areas of high vulnerability from the development of the sector biofuels.
  • Reactivate the agricultural sector from cash crops agro energy products for fuel use.
  • Develop a biofuel industry, competitive and efficient.
