Climate Change Description:

Funded by the government sale of federal Petro-Canada shares, the Sustainable Energy Science and Technology Strategy supports the development and deployment of new technologies to reduce GHG emissions. The Strategys advisory panel shapes Canadas energy science and technology priorities and their most efficient deployment. As announced in Budget 2005, the Strategy will also support the Technology Investment Fund, providing an alternative means for large emitters to meet their emissions targets through support for the development and deployment of innovative technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Both the Strategy and the Fund are key components of Canadas recently announced Project Green and its first phase: "Moving Forward on Climate Change: A Plan for Honouring our Kyoto Commitment."
