Energy Efficiency Description:On March 26, 2004 the Government of Canada launched the One Tonne Challenge (OTC) programme as part of Canadas climate change communications strategy. The OTC called on individual Canadians to reduce their GHG emissions by one tonne per year, or by about 20%. A guide was published featuring numerous energy efficiency facts and recommendations. On average, each Canadian generates just over five tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year. Together, these account for more than a quarter of Canadas greenhouse gas emissions.
