Description:In March, 1999, the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NTREE), an agency formed to advise Canadian policy-makers on sustainable development, released a report on "Canadas Options for a Domestic Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading." The report notes the importance of international emissions trading for the successful implementation of the Kyoto Protocol. It also advocates a domestic emissions trading scheme, beginning with a voluntary GHG credit trading programme, as a key tool in Canadas overall strategy to meet its Kyoto target.
