Funding:$56.6 million over 3 years
Energy Efficiency Description:

Energy Innovators Plus (EIPlus) renews (until 2006) and expands the Retrofit of Existing Commercial Buildings (RECB) programme and the Energy Innovators Initiative (EII). The expanded EII includes new aspects such as the elimination of minimum requirements for funding, more partnerships with member-based associations and special considerations for Aboriginal, northern, rural, remote and complex projects. It is intended to stimulate further energy efficiency retrofits of commercial and institutional buildings. It will focus on smaller retrofit projects and large, complex, multi-sectoral projects. In addition to retrofit planning and implementation, the $56.6 million includes incentives for refrigeration and equipment through related programs.

Climate Change Description:

Energy Innovators Plus (EIPlus) was renewed until 2006 and a new component, Retrofit of Existing Commercial Buildings (RECB), expands the existing Energy Innovators Initiative (EII). The EII encourages commercial businesses and public institutions to become more energy efficient and reduce their GHG emissions that contribute to climate change through a variety of tools and services including information, incentives, training and advice. The expanded EII includes such new changes as the elimination of minimum requirements for funding, more partnerships with member-based associations and special considerations for Aboriginal, northern, rural, remote and complex projects.
