Description:In October 2000, Natural Resources Canada announced a contribution of C$ 12.4 million over 10 years to SaskPower, Saskatchewans electrical utility, for the development of a green power market in Saskatchewan. Under the project, by 2002 half of the power consumed by government-owned and operated facilities in Saskatchewan will be wind-powered. The agreement aims to develop a green power market in Saskatchewan to supply 25 000 MWh over ten years to power their facilities starting in 2002. This should represent a reduction of emission of about 20 000 t of CO2 per year.
