All new government construction is currently required to meet the LEED Silver standard at a minimum; as of January 2015, 68 facilities have been constructed to this standard. For existing government-owned buildings, BOMA BESt (Building Owners and Managers Association – Best Energy Standards) certification is sought and, as of January 2015, 87 buildings have met this standard.
This program addresses the following areas: Reducing energy and water consumption; and Reducing waste and increasing recycling.
