Description:

These regulations under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 aim to reduce GHG emissions from the coal-fired electricity sector by applying a performance standard to new coal-fired electricity generation units and to old units that have reached the end of their useful life. The performance standard of 420 tonnes of CO2 per gigawatt hour came into force July 1, 2015.
