Description:In June 2000, the federal government established the Brazilian Climate Change Forum as an arena for the articulation and exchange of ideas regarding global warming. The Forum, which involved government officials at the federal, state and municipal level along with representatives from academia, NGOs and corporations, had no formal decisionary power. Instead, the Forum provided an opportunity for NGOs and other actors to convey their position on climate change issues directly to Brazilian officials working with the issue.
