Description:The Austrian government has amended the Austrian EU Emissions Trading Scheme law to implement the European Linking Directive in national legislation. In keeping with its earlier drafts, the official amendment authorizes the Austrian environment ministry to discount those credits earned in non-CO2 projects. The rejection of such credits requires ministerial decree and the establishment similar regulations in the other European members of the ETS. Thus far, only the UK has proposed such a similar ban. The law does not restrict use of JI and CDM credits beyond excluding those earned through LULUCF projects.
