Description:As a precursor to a regional system of emissions offsets trading, the Victorian government initiated a pilot programme of greenhouse gas emissions disclosure among 26 of its largest industries. Including BP, Esso, Mobil Oil, Shell Geelong Refinery, Fosters, Toyota and a number of power stations, the pilot programme also sets the stage for Australia to include greenhouse gases in the National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) that requires industry and governments to report the release of any of 100 harmful gases and substances.
