Presentations include detailed look at how World Energy Outlook models oil supply, power generation and demand for industry and transport
21 June 2013
The International Energy Workshop (IEW) 2013 was hosted by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and took place from 19 to 21 June 2013 in Paris. The IEA's Executive Director, Maria van der Hoeven, gave the opening speech and welcomed over 200 participants from 42 countries to Paris, five years after the IEW was hosted the last time by the IEA. This was followed by a keynote speech from Dr Fatih Birol, the IEA's Chief Economist, where he focused on the contribution of energy modelling to policy making. In total, the conference comprised three plenary sessions and 30 parallel sessions with almost 120 presentations covering various aspects of the energy sector. One of the parallel sessions was dedicated to the modelling for the World Energy Outlook (WEO), with four presentations detailing the modelling for oil supply, power generation, industrial demand and transport demand.
