Imperial College London awards honorary doctorate to IEA Chief Economist

Fatih Birol honoured for economic analysis and efforts to increase energy access

Dr Fatih Birol, the IEA Chief Economist, was awarded a Doctorate of Science honoris causa by Imperial College London at the Royal Albert Hall on 23 October 2013.

The title, in recognition of Dr Birol’s “contribution towards the economic analysis of global energy issues and the championing the cause of universal energy access over the last decade”, was confered by the College’s President and Rector, Sir Keith O’Nions.
