IEA hosts International Energy Workshop 2013
26 June 2013
The International Energy Workshop (IEW) 2013 was hosted by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and took place from 19 to 21 June 2013 in Paris.
IEA Executive Director Maria van der Hoeven gave the opening speech and welcomed more than 200 participants from 42 countries to the first IEA-hosted IEW in five years. This was followed by a keynote speech from IEA Chief Economist Fatih Birol, who focused on the contribution of energy modelling to policy making.
In total, the conference comprised three plenary sessions and 30 parallel sessions with almost 120 presentations covering various aspects of the energy sector. One of the parallel sessions was dedicated to the modelling for the World Energy Outlook (WEO), with four presentations detailing the modelling for oil supply, power generation, industrial demand and transport demand.
