IEA and EU collaboration to achieve the energy revolution
16 November 2010
Bo Diczfalusy, IEA Director of Sustainable Energy Policy and Technology, participated in the Strategic Energy Technology Plan 2010 Conference organised in Brussels on 16 November by the Belgian Presidency of the European Union.
The Strategic Energy Technology (SET)-Plan is the technology pillar of the EU's energy and climate policy. It is a blueprint for Europe to develop a world-class portfolio of affordable, clean, efficient and low-emission energy technologies through co-ordinated research and has been proposed by the Commission in 2007 and endorsed by Member States and the European Parliament as the appropriate way forward. It lays out the EU's strategy to accelerate the development of these technologies and their market breakthrough.
At the conference Mr. Diczfalusy gave a presentation entitled "IEA and EU collaboration to achieve the energy revolution” in which he described “energy efficiency as being our first priority”. He also participated in a panel discussion on how international co-operation can be improved.
