Geothermal power production could increase up to more than 1 000 terawatt hours (TWh) by 2050, according to the IEA. The new IEA paper Renewable Energy Essentials: Geothermal sketches out basic facts and prospects for harnassing energy generated in the Earth’s core. It also shows how geothermal can be used for generating electricity and providing direct heat for numerous applications.
