IEA Executive Director talks with EU energy business leaders and climbs the largest solar tower

IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka delivered a keynote presentation at the EU energy business leaders meeting, "Energy Sustainability Policies: The European Challenge," in Seville, Spain on 14 January.

Mr. Tanaka’s presentation covered a wide range of issues, including the IEA 450 climate scenario, implications of COP15 and the IEA’s energy technology roadmaps.

The leaders discussed various issues including energy supply security and renewable energy, and reported the results to the Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastián, who is also the current chairman of the energy ministers meeting (Energy Council) of the European Union.

While in Spain, Mr. Tanaka also visited the Abengoa Solars PS20, a 20-megawatt concentrating solar power plant (CSP).
