IEA Launches Energy Policy Review of Chile

On Thursday 22 October, IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka launched the Chile Energy Policy Review 2009 in Santiago, making a presentation on “Global Energy Challenges: Insights from recent IEA analysis.” The event was attended by 150 people representing government, academia, business and the main Chilean media.
Earlier that day, Mr. Tanaka participated in the inauguration of the LNG terminal in Quintero, 120 kilometers north of Santiago, which marks the end of Chilean dependence on Argentine natural gas, and met with President Michelle Bachelet of Chile.
