World Energy Outlook 2009 presented to the European Commission

IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka and Chief Economist Fatih Birol presented the results of the World Energy Outlook 2009 (WEO-2009) at the European Commission in Brussels on 13 November.
In opening the event, EU Commissioner Piebalgs highlighted the importance of the WEO as a reference for EU energy policy. He also noted that the WEO-2009 shows a way to transform the energy sector compatible with a 450 ppm path and that he considers the analysis in the WEO to be fully independent.
